Sanskrit - Music in Rag Bhairav by Chris Hale and Miranda Stone
Words inspired by traditional refuge mantra and placed in the context of Yeshu Bhakti.

Recorded live on January 19th, 2018 at
NUUC, Toronto

I have used the word Satyarupaya to describe Christ, the embodiment of God, who said of himself “I and the Father are One,” from the book of John, chapter 10, verse 30 (The New Testament Scriptures). He continues by speaking of his shishyas/disciples, saying “I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one--as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me” (John Chapter 17 verse 21). This brings us to the final line of the mantra which speaks of the community. In Sanskrit, saha means “together with/accompany” and vrata means “one who has taken a vow.” Together, these words mean “religious community,” and I felt that it fit the meter of the song a little better than the word sangha, another word for community that has been used in other versions of this mantra. - M.S.
