Hindi - Words and music by Swami Anil Dev
Arrangement by Chris Hale and Miranda Stone
Recorded live on October 28th, 2016 at
Church of the Resurrection, Toronto
The devotional music group Aradhna, led by Chris Hale and Pete Hicks, recorded this bhajan as the title track for their first album, released in 2000. This is a new take on the song, with a variation on the chorus melody and some new chord changes, which depart somewhat from the original version that they did. Aradhna originally learned their version of Deep Jale in 1995 from an album called Naman released on cassette by Matridham Ashram, Varanasi. It featured the songs and voice of Fr. Anil Dev, the gentle spiritual leader of the Ashram who is also a prolific composer of Yeshu Bhajans. - M.S.
lyrics
Deepa jale Prabhu naama rahe
Light the lamp for the name of the Lord to remain
Mere mandira mein, mandira mein
In my temple, in my temple (of the heart)
Saanjha savere yeh mana gaaye
Evening and morning my soul will sing
Yeshu tera naam, Prabhu Yeshu tera naam
Jesus’ your name, Lord Jesus your name
Naama rahe mana mein
May your name remain in my heart
Prabhu naama rahe mana mein
Lord may your name remain in my heart
Deepa jalaaye raaha nihaarun
I am lighting the lamp and watching the road
Darashana ko, Prabhu darashana ko
For a vision, a vision of the Lord
Aan baso dila mein
Come dwell in my heart
Prabhu aana baso dila mein
Lord, come dwell in my heart
He Prabhu daata Vishwa-vidhaata
Oh Generous Lord, Creator of the whole universe
Namana karun Prabhu namana karun
I bow before you, Lord I bow before you
Raaga jage mana mein
Let desire awaken in my soul
Anuraaga jage mana mein
Let passion awaken in my soul

In India, Yeshu is Hindi for “Jesus.” Satsang means “gathering of the truth.” Typically, satsangs in India are gatherings of
people who worship together, often using devotional songs called bhajans and kirtans. You are invited to join us! We meet once a month and you can find out about our monthly satsangs at facebook.com/YeshuSatsangToronto - Christopher Dicran Hale and Miranda Stone...more
